Just 93 Days.

13.09.16. 93 Days Premiered in Lagos, Nigeria which was hosted in The House on the Rock Cathedrali, 4th Roundabout, Lekki-Epe Expressway. I was lucky enough to attend this historical event. Historical, because I was finally able to see the beginnings of what I believe to be the complete turn around of Nollywood. And with only one day left until the movie is released (14.09.16) we will all be able to experience the removal of what was once the unprofessional and undermined film industry of Nigeria. And for those of you who don’t know, or haven’t yet figured out Nollywood is the “Nigerian Hollywood”.

I will save the history of Nollywood for another day and focus on why we are here – to unravel the contents of this brilliant film that brought Natives FilmWorks, Michelangelo Productions and the Bolanle Austen Peters Production together to produce a heart moving and quality movie.

Starring Bimbo Akintola, Danny Glover, Tim Reid, Somkele Idhalama, Keppy Ekpenyong Gideon Okeke and other talented actors (including Mr Mahogany – Sola Oyebade himself <3), 93 Days shows a vivid story of determination, sacrifice, dedication and resilience which celebrates the courage shown by the First Consultant Medical Team, the Lagos State & Federal Governments and well-meaning organizations in combating the Ebola virus, which broke out early 2014 in Nigeria.

We all know how dreadful the Ebola Virus is, hearing of all the horrific tragedies that it was responsible for, including the numerous lives that were taken due to it. And this movie expresses just that.

The movie tells the story of how a few sacrificed their lives at the frontline of the horrendous battle against the Ebola virus, some of who lost their lives, but not without saving several lives. Noteworthy is the late Dr. Stella Adadevoh whose role is played by renowned Nigerian actress, Bimbo Akintola.

“93 Days is a masterfully crafted story of bravery and sacrifice and is definitely a must see. It showcases the best of Nigeria; it is powerful, gripping and an emotive piece. I am more than proud to have played a part in this project.” – Bolanle Austen-Peters.

The Lagos State Government’s rapid response and collaboration with other well-meaning organizations in combating the deadly virus earned this notable event the theme, The Power of COLLABORATION. This movie tells the story of greatness and drives home the importance of unity in conquering and overcoming challenges. (Read More)

I was able to attend the red carpet front and also view as the talented actors, presenters and government officials came to show their presence in dedication to the success of the film. Below are some images, even those taken in the initial Film Premiere that took place at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), widely recognised for showing the most outstanding films from around the world, which selected 93 Days for screening in September at the Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto Canada.
