| B A L M A I N | N A T I O N | came to H&M today!! I had to do a quick post because in the midst of my extremely busy schedule I managed to almost forget! Even though I promised myself not to after my friend told me all about the launch in New York a few days back!
People went crazy today.
I love how they are bringing elements of high fashion into the Highstreet. The motto from their campaign being ‘From the Runway to the Subway‘ and I feel like this is going to be a reoccurring thing for many other brands.
It’s important for high fashion to be accessible to the young and trendy, especially in London. And yes – it might be on the more expensive side, but the fact that you can be there, and see it, and feel it, (without having to somehow chase up supermodels and designers around the world to have a glimpse during fashion week) is fantastic!
I have done many posts about Rousteing and Balmain as you probably already know ( and more to come!! #TeamBalmain ) so my fascination shouldn’t come as a surprise!!
The selection is amazing! More than what I was expecting to be honest, as I remember when Rihanna did her RiriForRiverIslandCampaign (another favourite – Love you RiRi!) which was just as amazing especially as Riverisland is one of my favourite brands in general. The campaign was great, but even though there was a lot of stock, there were only a few selection of items. More featuring in america of course. But H&MBalmain has really – everything!
And you might be wondering – how did they come from couture one-off pieces into the highstreet. Well it must have taken a lot of hard work and a lot of speed-manufacturing. But if you go online you will notice a one-buy-per-item rule that applies on each item. This minimises the amount of pieces people can buy – which in turn would allow more time for reproduction of stock. Smart Rousteing!
There is also a queueing process even after you buy the items!
I think this will create a new wave of creativity within the younger generations, as well as aspiring designers because it shows how high fashion isn’t just high, it is an expression of quality but in a unique form.
I know the Kardashians will be pleased!
Actually, unfortunately as of today (05/11/15) the items were actually sold out 5 hours after the launch of the new campaign. Not surprising. But keep on the look out! I certainly will!
Did you know that H&M stands for Hennes & Mauritz ?? Didn’t think so!
